ST. FRANCIS MUSIC MINISTRY

Director - Paula Kern Price (937-304-5593)

Choir members and musicians are dedicated people who use their talents in serving the Lord and the community. Week after week we strive to use the most beautiful music available and sing to the best of our abilities. St. Francis is very fortunate to have several singers, instrumentalists, organists and keyboard players. We believe that the assembly is the central focus of our ministry. Our goal is to create an atmosphere where the parish has full, conscious and active participation of its assembly.

The Traditional Choir sings at the 11 a.m. Mass. Our practices are on Wednesdays from 7:30 until 9 p.m. If you sing bass or baritone, we really could use your voice! In addition to the regular Mass schedule, this choir will also sing at our Thanksgiving Ecumenical Service on Sunday, November 22, and at the 10 p.m. Christmas Eve Mass. We also lead the music at the services for Holy Week and the Easter Vigil.

The Harmony Choir sings at the 8:30 a.m. Sunday Liturgies and practices on Tuesdays evenings from 7:30 until 9 p.m. We have a trumpet player and we would like to start branching out and adding guitar and possibly percussion. At least one time a month, this choir leads the music at the 5 p.m. Saturday evening Mass.

The Men's Choir sings about six times a year at the 8:30 a.m. Mass. We practice on the Tuesday before we sing and the rehearsal time is from 8 until 9 p.m. If you would like join this choir, please contact Tom Hannan (937-885-3515).

Our Children's Choir is under the direction of Jan Whitehouse (937-848-5899) and Paul Dever. The choir is open to children in grades four through eight. Children should be able to sing one octave for the director, Jan Whitehouse. Members should be committed to attending rehearsals and participating at Mass. We are scheduled to sing six times for the 2009/2010 season. We will also sing at the 4 p.m. Mass on Christmas Eve and will lead the music for two of the First Communion Liturgies.

The Contemporary Group consists of members from the Harmony Choir with added instrumentation such as guitars, bass, percussion and other instruments.
